As a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to adults with a variety of medical and post-surgical conditions. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs and cardiac rhythms using telemetry, administering medications and treatments, collaborating with the care team on treatment plans, educating patients and families, and ensuring accurate documentation. You’ll play a key role in recognizing changes in patient status, promoting safety, and supporting recovery in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to adult patients with medical, surgical, or telemetry needs
Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment
Administer medications, IVs, and treatments as prescribed
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care
Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record
Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
Maintain patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality at all times
Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards
Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
Previous Med-Surg or telemetry experience preferred
BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with diverse patient populations
