RieLes Group is looking for Hospitalists to join our team! If you’re a Hospitalist interested in providing services in support of Veterans, Active Military personnel, and their families then we’d love to chat with you. This position is located at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX and includes an attractive compensation package. 

The Hospitalist in this position shall perform services under the control and general supervision of the Chief of the Department of Medicine. 

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:  

  • Serves primarily as a Hospitalist for inpatient general medicine wards during day time hours.  

  • Also serves as attending physician on consultation service and provide care in internal medicine clinic as directed by the Chief, Department of Medicine.  

  • Cares for inpatients that have both acute and/or chronic illnesses, provides consultation to and acts as an interface with other physicians throughout BAMC.  

  • Majority of work will involve inpatient Internal Medicine admissions serving as staff of record while assisting, teaching, supervising and evaluating house staff and medical students.  

  • Daily work involves management of complicated medical problems such as infection, hypertension, peptic ulcer disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, arthritic conditions, etc.  

  • Examine patients, take histories, perform physical examinations, order laboratory tests, make definitive diagnoses and prescribe treatment to meet needs of patients, and refer as appropriate to specialty/subspecialty care.  

  • Manage full spectrum of care for all patients. Ensure return reply from consultant on patient referral consultations.  

  • Admit patients to the hospital when appropriate.  

  • Monitor and manage care for patients as they move through the system to ensure cost-effective care. Notify patients of abnormal reports. 

  • Prepare and document appropriate history, physical examinations, and preoperative diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided IAW hospital directive and prepare such records and reports as may be required.  

  • Use the inpatient and outpatient electronic health records systems to document patient treatment and submit orders. Workload statistics and patient outcome information on all services provided will be monitored by Department of Medicine BAMC.  

  • Attend the Department staff meetings, resident teaching conferences, and the Quality Improvement Committee meetings as required by the Chief, Department of Medicine or appointed representative.  

  • Support working and teaching rounds, prepare teaching materials to include curriculum development, evaluates resident’s assignments, presents formal and informal lectures, and serves a vital role in the Internal Medicine Residency program.  

  • Shall be well versed in the program and American College of Graduate Medical Education requirements and provide orientation, feedback, educational counseling, and proper documentation as required by the training program. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Certification in BCLS, ACLS required  

  • Have and maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine from one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or US Virgin Islands and shall be able to obtain clinical privileges to practice medicine with the applicable MTF credentials committee. 

  • Doctor of Medicine or a Doctor of Osteopathy who is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. 

  • Have or obtain a current, valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number 

  • Committed to BAMC and the communities we serve 

  • Excellent communication, bedside manner, and organizational skills 

  • A strong work ethic and desire to participate in team-oriented, performance-driven Health System
