Location: Washington, DC
Worksite: On-site at Library of Congress facilities
Employment Type: Contract / Contingent Upon Award
Anticipated Start: September 2026
RieLes Group, LLC is seeking a qualified Librarian/Cataloger to support an anticipated FEDLINK Library
Support Services task order involving archival processing, metadata development, and finding aid support
for special collections at the Library of Congress.
The Librarian/Cataloger will support arrangement, description, folder-level, and collection-level metadata,
descriptive consistency, ArchivesSpace bulk import preparation, finding aid development, research support,
and a review of music-related and special-format description
Key Responsibilities:
Support archival arrangement and descriptive work under Archivist guidance
Capture and verify folder titles, date ranges, extent information, physical description, content notes,
and box/folder data
Prepare, validate, and maintain ArchivesSpace bulk import spreadsheets
Support the development of finding aids in accordance with Library guidance and descriptive standards
Assist with research within and beyond the collections to support accurate description
Support review of music-related, audiovisual, photographic, scrapbook, manuscript, and special-format materials
Identify metadata inconsistencies and support corrections prior to submission
Participate in quality control, reporting, acceptance support, and corrective action as needed
Required Qualifications:
Archives/library background and experience performing similar tasks
Knowledge of archival description, metadata creation, cataloging, or finding aid development
Experience working with archival, manuscript, library, or special collections materials
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate data in spreadsheets or collection
management systems
Ability to communicate effectively with project staff and Library personnel
Ability to complete required Library-provided training prior to beginning applicable work
Ability to safely handle archival materials and lift up to 35 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ArchivesSpace, EAD, finding aids, MARC, DACS, or archival metadata workflows
Experience preparing bulk import spreadsheets or performing metadata cleanup/validation
Knowledge of American history, culture, documentary studies, oral history, music history, or related research areas
Ability to read music notation is preferred
Knowledge of Hebraic languages or Jewish liturgical music is highly desirable
