Position Summary
The Department of Veterans Affairs is also seeking two (2) Registered Respiratory Therapists with Polysomnography Certification to support sleep medicine services for Veteran patients. This role focuses on diagnostic sleep studies and therapeutic interventions for sleep-related breathing disorders.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform overnight polysomnography (PSG) studies
- Conduct CPAP/BiPAP titration studies
- Set up and calibrate sleep diagnostic equipment
- Monitor and score sleep studies in real time
- Identify and document sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea
- Educate patients on sleep therapy devices and compliance
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports
- Work closely with sleep physicians and pulmonologists
Qualifications
Required:
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Active state license
- Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent certification
- Experience in sleep lab or sleep medicine setting
- BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
Work Schedule
- Full-time – 40 hours per week
- Primarily overnight sleep lab coverage
- Typical schedules include:
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3–4 nights per week)
- or 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (5 nights per week)
- Includes weekends and federal holidays
- Limited daytime duties; role dedicated to sleep medicine operations
