Clearance: Must pass background check and obtain base access credentials
Position Summary:
The Military Treatment Facility (MTF) is seeking a qualified and compassionate Childbirth Educator to provide high-quality outpatient education and support services to expectant families. This position will play a critical role in preparing patients for labor, delivery, and postpartum care through comprehensive instruction, support, and coordination with healthcare providers. Services will be delivered in accordance with Air Force Medical Service policies, Joint Commission standards, and professional clinical guidelines.

Position Summary:
The Military Treatment Facility (MTF) is seeking a qualified and compassionate Childbirth Educator to provide high-quality outpatient education and support services to expectant families. This position will play a critical role in preparing patients for labor, delivery, and postpartum care through comprehensive instruction, support, and coordination with healthcare providers. Services will be delivered in accordance with Air Force Medical Service policies, Joint Commission standards, and professional clinical guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive Childbirth Preparation classes, including topics like natural childbirth, signs of labor, pain relief options, cesarean births, postpartum recovery, and more
- Offer refresher courses for families expecting additional children
- Coordinate and manage a childbirth education program that meets the needs of first-time and experienced parents
- Educate and support patients and families using various teaching methods and materials
- Document all sessions and maintain accurate patient records using AHLTA, CHCS, and ICDB systems
- Participate in quality assurance programs and ensure compliance with hospital policies
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required by the Flight Commander
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a National League for Nursing-approved Registered Nurse (RN) program
- Unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or jurisdiction
- Certified Childbirth Educator by a nationally recognized program or eligible for certification within 3 months of hire
- Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience, including Maternal/Child health
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association only)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, internet, and healthcare record systems (CHCS, AHLTA, ICDB)
- Must complete annual HIPAA, safety, security, and compliance trainings
Additional Requirements:
- Must wear a Government-issued ID badge at all times
- Completion of pre-employment physical exam, immunizations (including Hepatitis B), and security forms (SF-85, fingerprinting)
- Must maintain professional conduct and appearance, adhering to the hospital dress code
- Participation in the Contractor Manpower Reporting Application (CMRA) is required annually
- This is a non-essential position during national emergencies/crises
Work Schedule:
- Part-time: Not to exceed 20 hours per week
- Flexible hours, including evenings
- Attendance at staff meetings and special events may be required
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Knowledge of military healthcare systems (TRICARE, VA, Medicare, Medicaid)
- Experience in patient advocacy and customer service in a clinical setting
- Familiarity with Joint Commission and AAAHC standards
